Architectural Designer I

Shape Architecture Studio is a small collaborative company specializing in high performance, contemporary architecture.   We are building science experts, and leverage our expertise to create buildings with unparalleled health, comfort, durability, and near-zero energy use.  We listen, collaborate, observe, and innovate, to create exceptional, site-specific design.   Our projects range in scale from ADUs to multifamily and include residential, commercial, and public work.

We are looking for an architectural designer to join our team.  We are a small company and need someone who shares our passion for low-energy high-impact design.

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will work in all phases of design, from Schematic to Construction Administration, under close supervision of a principal or project manager.  You will:

• Coordinate, develop, and refine in-process designs

• Pick up redlines on plans, sections, elevations, wall sections etc

• Create renderings/ imagery

• Participate in iterative design process (bring your ideas to projects) 

• Create model options based on verbal communications

• Show creative design potential through innovative design solutions

QUALIFICATIONS

• Software skills: Archicad (preferred), Gsuite, Adobe suite

• Strong communication skills: sketching/ drawing, written, verbal

• Passion for sustainability

• Excellent aesthetic sensibility/ design process

• Ability to use hand sketching/ drawing as design tool

• Knowledge of construction - past work for contractors or other hands-on experience a plus

• Ability to multi-task, shift gears quickly

• Fast learner/ problem solver; curious, inventive, motivated, and self-driven

• Architecture Degree, M.Arch preferred. 

• Education/interest/experience in the field of sustainable design

• 1-4 years architectural experience preferred.
