Shape Architecture is a contemporary architecture firm with over a decade of experience designing a variety of building types across the mountain west, from hospitality projects to zero-energy single family homes to community projects.

We focus on low energy buildings that minimize energy use and long-term costs, while maximizing comfort, durability, and connection to sites. We believe in harnessing the power of design to shape positive change by taking a balanced approach.

 
 

Morgan Law, Partner, CHPC, Principal Architect

Morgan Law is the founding principal and design director of Shape Architecture Studio. His work has included multi-family, restaurant, commercial, hospitality, and single-family, with a strong specialization in high performance and sustainable design; he has been involved in several award-winning projects and is an accomplished designer as well as sustainability consultant.

Morgan has worked on a number of award winning projects that included single family, multi-family, and schools, including the first certified Passivhaus school. He also designed and consulted on many other Passive House and LEED projects.

After working at Solar Energy International (SEI) in Carbondale, CO and the Aspen Art Museum, Morgan attended the University of Oregon where he received his Master's in Architecture. He was awarded the Belluschi Graduate Teaching Fellowship.

Morgan lives in Leadville, CO with his wife and two young sons.

Steve Scribner, Partner, AIA, CPHD, Principal Architect

Steve Scribner is a licensed architect, educator, and certified Passive House Designer, with experience ranging from educational and cultural buildings to custom mountain homes to independent design-build projects.

Steve worked for leading firms in New York, Massachusetts and Colorado overseeing design and construction on complex facilities for schools, libraries, and universities. He has also designed and built affordable housing projects using local materials in Uganda and Nigeria.

Steve has a B.A. in Physics from Wesleyan University, and a Master of Architecture with Distinction from Parsons the New School for Design, where he was awarded the national Alpho Rho Chi Medal for leadership, service, and professional merit.

Bunny Tucker, Licensed Architect, CPHD

Bunny is a licensed architect with experience in Philadelphia at both Kieran Timberlake and DIGSAU. Prior to architecture, she studied environmental policy and taught high school science with Teach for America. She combines her background in sustainability with her passions for educational and environmental justice to design spaces that contribute to human health, address climate change and resiliency, and restore ecosystem function. As a leader within the AIA’s Committee on the Environment, she expands her reach to educate practitioners and influence policy.

Maggie Wohltjen, Licensed Architect

Maggie is a licensed Architect specializing in residential and interior architecture in Denver and the Rocky Mountain area.

Before receiving a B.Arch from Auburn University, Maggie participated in both Rural Studio and Urban Studio, where she acquired a well-rounded sense of the impact of context on architecture. Maggie has since developed a holistic approach to design, incorporating her interests in building science, spatial psychology, and interiors to enhance the function, efficiency, and aesthetic balance of high-performance homes.

Upon joining Shape in 2020, Maggie discovered a passion for high-performance design and climate resiliency. Involved in all facets of the design process, she works to create thoughtfully planned, future-motivated, and sustainably built homes.

Sarah Vanderpool, Licensed Architect

Sarah is a creative, educator, and photographer from the western slope of Colorado. She has a passion for human interaction, spatial placemaking, and sustainable integrity. Upon graduating with her Masters degree in Architecture and obtaining her certificate in design-build from the Colorado Building Workshop program, she earned the AIA Medal of Academic Excellence at the University of Colorado Denver. Sarah weaves her traditional training with her prior experiences in design-build contracting and custom FF&E fabrication. From cultivating and constructing cabins in New Mexico to an educational community center in Nicaragua, she has enjoyed taking part in all facets of architecture.

She also teaches at CU’s College of Architecture and Planning as a studio lecturer and is the photographer for many of Shape’s completed projects.

Erica Robinson, Architectural Designer

Erica approaches each project with intention and care, driven by a passion for creating buildings that perform beautifully and harmonize with their surroundings. She is especially dedicated to Passive House design and crafting structures that respond thoughtfully to the unique character and challenges of the Rocky Mountains. Through site-specific, mindful design, Erica seeks to enhance both the built and natural environment.

She holds an accredited Bachelor of Architecture from Iowa State University, with minors in Sustainability and Preservation & Cultural Heritage. She has a deep appreciation for history, shaped by travels throughout Europe and studying abroad in Italy.

Outside of the office, she enjoys backpacking in the mountains, traveling, and running ultramarathons.

Kedar Sitapati, Architectural Designer, CPHC

Kedar graduated as a Summa Cum Laude from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He has won numerous awards, including a 3rd Place award in the US Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon and the University of Arizona's B.Arch Capstone Award. His focus on high-performance design led him to get certified as a Passive House Consultant from PHIUS. To the workplace, Kedar has brought enthusiasm and rigor. He is eager to take on challenges, and is capable of solving them with confidence. 

Outside of the office, Kedar’s interest in sustainability and creativity continues. As an outdoor enthusiast, you might find him on a ski slope or backpacking deep in the mountains. On the creative side, Kedar enjoys playing the piano, cooking, and fabricating.

Sam Eckerson, Licensed Architect

Sam is a licensed architect in the state of Colorado with extensive experience in residential and commercial architecture. He graduated from the University of Colorado, Denver's M.Arch program where he was the recipient of the Temple Hoyne Buell scholarship in 2020.

Prior to working in architecture, Sam graduated from Washington College in Maryland with a B.A. in Philosophy focusing on Ontology and Epistemology. After graduation, he worked for a law firm in Washington, DC, before moving to New York for an apprenticeship to pursue his passion of furniture design and fabrication.

While enrolled at UC Denver, Sam worked for a company fabricating and designing large-scale public art installations, notably a 50' tall octopus currently installed at the Branson Aquarium at the Boardwalk.

Margaret Daly, Office Manager

Margaret graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, with a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology. As Office Manager at Shape Architecture Studio, she brings organization, clarity, and a people centered approach to the daily operations of the practice. With a keen eye for detail, Margaret helps keep the studio running smoothly and collaboratively.

Outside of the office, she is drawn to the outdoors. Interests include sailing, spending time in nature, hiking, and skiing of all kinds, from alpine to cross-country, she is always seeking new landscapes and fresh air.


Whitney Pfalmer, Office Manager

Whitney is the Office Manager at Shape Architecture, bringing a wealth of experience from a diverse career background. Her varied experiences have shaped her exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to adapt in dynamic environments. Whitney was drawn to Shape Architecture because of the firm’s passion for creating a better environment, with a strong focus on climate care and sustainability—values that resonate deeply with her.

Whitney holds a degree from the University of Colorado, and outside of work, she enjoys traveling, playing games, and spending quality time with her family, which includes three beloved dogs.
