Boulder, CO
The Sunshine Canyon Passive House is situated on a steep south-facing lot in the hills above Boulder. Large south windows and doors capitalize on both solar gain and views, while deep overhangs and screens create privacy and shading. The upper level is rotated 8° relative to the lower level (the angle between solar and magnetic south), creating dramatic overhangs and unique outdoor spaces on both levels. All public and private rooms connect seamlessly to the exterior through large lift-and-slide wood doors; all-electric radiant heating will be supplemented by a wood-burning fireplace.
