Passive House designed with Phoenix Haus in Grand Mesa, CO
Our passive house design for this two-bedroom plus loft home on the Grand Mesa in Western Colorado is a collaboration with Grand Junction-based Phoenix Haus, a high-performance building prefabricator.
The wall panels are Passive House pre-certified and were erected in just four days; they are vapor-open and low carbon footprint resulting in incredibly high comfort, health, and durability.
Phoenix Haus built this home as a prototype for sustainability and thermal comfort. A radiant in-floor heating system is powered by one small heat pump. The ventilation system is an ultra-efficent HRV that ensures continuous fresh air. The (Alpen) triple pane windows keep the interior space cozy and bright. The 6 kw PV system means utility-free living.
