Gladstone, MO Event Center

This new community event space and wedding venue is located on the beautiful 22-acre site of the Atkins-Johnson Farm and Museum, an exceptionally preserved heritage farmhouse with outbuildings and active heirloom gardens. The organization’s mission revolves around education and connecting people to local history, land, and agriculture.

The 6,300 sf community space is designed to amplify this community asset; the flexible, spacious design can accommodate functions from school group events to farmers markets, corporate retreats, and 200-person weddings. In addition to the 3,600 sf great room, the structure includes two spacious multi-function rooms (designed to elegantly serve as bride and groom rooms or as conference/ meeting rooms), a 500 sf catering kitchen, permanent bar, restrooms, and generous storage spaces.

Large multi-fold and sliding doors seamlessly connect the interior with large exterior patios, including a covered south patio that will shade the main hall from overheating. The 16’ east-facing sliding door is perfectly oriented on views of a picturesque meadow with rolling hills and stately trees beyond.

The building is a prefabricated post-and-beam barn, which will be provided by Legacy Post and Beam. The true timber mortise and tenon structure is pre-cut and fitted, then disassembled and shipped to the site and assembled, and includes the exposed timber frame as well as infill framing materials, connectors, SIP roofs, and even interior and exterior cladding.

Construction is schedule to start summer of 2025; we look forward to seeing a range of events hosted there in early 2026, which will help bring together the local and regional community!
