El Jets Cantina X Sky Outpost

Set within the broader Riverfront Dos Rios development in Grand Junction, Colorado, the project imagines a walkable and bikeable hub that blends river culture, industrial character, and a deep appreciation for the landscape. The experience centers on a bike park, a river recreation area, interpretive trails, and a mountain bike park island that all speak to the site’s rugged past while looking forward to its future.

SQUARE FOOTAGE

16 acre development overall with a 2,887 sf Cantina and 800 sf Casitas

LOCATION

Grand Junction, CO

Anchoring the space is El Jet’s Cantina, a relaxed gathering spot paired with food trucks, a remote-workspace garage, and a range of overnight stay options including casitas, camping, and glamping. The vision reimagines the local outdoor scene, offering a more soulful, rootsy alternative. Vintage Airstreams are planned to become dreamy lodging pods for those who want a quiet get away. The overall atmosphere aims to bring back the sense of wonder that traditional RV parks have lost while creating a destination for both travelers and locals.

The 4.2-acre site sits at the confluence of the Colorado and Gunnison River. Once home to thousands of junked cars, it is now being restored as a vibrant recreational corridor. Surrounded by trail networks, bike parks, performance spaces, and river access, the location is positioned to become a landmark gateway to Grand Junction’s outdoor culture. At its core, the project seeks to honor the riverfront’s history while generating new energy along this evolving edge of the city.
